Episode 0 (練習生60名決定！レギュラー配信事前予習SP; The 60 trainees have been decided! Pre-regular broadcast preparation Special) is the zeroth episode of the second season of Produce 101 Japan. In Japan, the episode was distributed by GyaO! on April 1, 2021. It was broadcast internationally with English subtitles on YouTube a day later.

Right before the first broadcast! The 60 trainees have finally been decided! Which trainees were chosen by the national producers based on the ON:TACT ability evaluation?[1]
Summary[]
The results of the pre-show voting phase are revealed and the trainees ranked 61-99 are eliminated. Rank 100 and 101, Fujisawa Hibiki and Murata Fuma respectively, withdrew prior to the show for personal reasons. Furthermore, all trainees have voted for their Top 3 contestants in five different categories: visual, fashion, dance, rap, and vocal. The trainees that voted for the winners of their category also get the chance to comment on their choice. Additionally, contestants choose which other trainees they'd like to meet based on their ON:TACT content and pre-show interactions.
The winners of the visual category are Sano Yudai, Ota Shunsei, and Morii Hiroaki; the fashion category is topped by Nishi Hiroto, Ikezaki Rihito, and Goto Takeru; the rap category by Tajima Shogo, Nakano Kaiho, and Nishijima Renta; the vocal category by Fujimaki Kyosuke, Iinuma Anthonny, and Takatsuka Hiromu; and finally, the dance category by Nishi Hiroto, Tajima Shogo, and Kimura Masaya. The number one contestant in the dance category, Nishi Hiroto, also gives a honorable mention to Fukuda Shoya, whom he personally perceives as the best dancer among the trainees.
The trainees also talk about which other contestants they'd like to meet and show what they're taking to the training camp with them.
